Q&A and unanimity on the implementation plan for 2022 at Hoi An marine waste monitor training

On August 3, 2022, Hoi An’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinated with Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) to organize a training program for monitoring Hoi An’s marine waste in 2022 at the People’s Committee of Cua Dai ward with the participation of representatives of the leadership of Cua Dai ward, the Youth Union, the Women’s Union of Cua Dai ward, the club for the environment of Hoi An (S.E.A Club), representatives of Hoi An Radio and Television Station, together with 2 representatives from Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An and Vinpearl Resort & Spa Hoi An, which are businesses that concern about local beach waste.

At the training session, experts from the professional consulting unit of the Management Board of Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area provided detailed instructions on beach monitoring techniques and shared experiences in implementation in Cu Lao Cham. More than 30 members of the local core force together participated in exchanging ideas, asking questions, and agreeing on the marine waste monitoring plan in Hoi An in 2022.

Following the training session, on August 4, 5, and 6, the host unit, the consulting unit, and the local core team will deploy the 1st Hoi An beach waste monitoring activity at 3 beaches in the Cua Dai ward. This will be an important stepping stone to making a positive impact on the local community on the issue of marine waste.

The activity is organized within the scope of the project “Local Solutions for Plastic Pollution” (LSPP) sponsored by USAID under the program “Vietnam Local Works for Environmental Health”, implemented by GreenHub and 03 partners (ISPONRE, HUPH-VOHUN, GIMASYS).
