GreenHub/CEPF Project: Nature Conservation and Waste Management sharing and consultation together with Stakeholders in Cat Ba Town.

On the 18th September, GreenHub had a meeting with various agencies in Cat Ba town. GreenHub had consulted and shared with the different departments, the Nature Conservation, and waste management plan, together with the stakeholders in Cat Ba town.

At the meeting, GreenHub’s Director Tran Thi Hoa exchanged the 2018-2020 Priority Action Plan about Nature Conservation combined with waste management in the Cat Ba Archipelago. Any opinions and recommendations on the local plans for the nature conservation in the Cat Ba Archipelago were more than welcome.

Mr. Le Thanh Tuyen – A Representative of the Cat Ba Biosphere Reserve presented the current activities on the island and explained the upcoming plans regarding nature conservation, hoping to have the chance to collaborate and be associated with GreenHub in order to achieve greater impact and more efficient activities for the environment in the rural areas. The natural reserve was very supportive of GreenHub’s activities in Cat Ba.

Mr. Doan The Chung – Deputy Director of the Cat Ba Municipality’s Public and Urban Waste Management Company had presented and discussed the situation of waste management in Cat Ba, its challenges, opportunities, and hopes for the future. They were also more than willing to support and help GreenHub for the upcoming project.

Representatives of Cat Hai Radio Station – Ms. Hoang Thi Tan, expressed their interest and eagerness to contribute and support the project, specifically regarding the mass media communication activities for the people. Furthermore, they suggested the idea to combine the project together with the propaganda of the local project of Cat Ba Xanh.

Mr. Dang Cong Hau – A Representative of the Anh Duong Duong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company talked about solid waste management in An Binh commune, Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province and presented the proposed solution for the waste disposal of his company in Bé Island.

Dr. Chu Manh Trinh – A Representative of Cu Lao Cham Marine Plain, Quang Nam talked about household waste management, specifically the “Say no to plastic bags” initiative in Quang Nam. In order to succeed, this initiative must be supported, regarding the coordination of its implementation, by its stakeholders such as the state, the scientists and the local people.

Throughout the meeting, the participants expressed their keenness to be supported by the media representatives, the local authorities as well as the by various private agencies and scientific and technology organizations.
