Phu Yen women are not only “good at national work, diligent at domestic work”, they are also the active, agile and determined women in business. A typical example is the bio-detergent production model from fruit peel by Women’s Union of Binh Ngoc Commune, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen.

Production model of bio-detergent by Women’s Union of Binh Ngoc Commune, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen

After nearly 2 years of building and operating the model with the technical support from the Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) and the Central College of Industry and Trade, with the support of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Phu Yen, and with the support of departments, agencies, local mass organizations, the model of women in Binh Ngoc commune under the leadership of President Nguyen Anh Hong has achieved a number of achievements:

  • The model has helped to consume 500-600 liters of biological detergent, equivalent to about 180kg of fruit peels, specifically orange peels. Ingredients are collected by women at stalls and shops selling orange juice in the city.
  • The business model in the commune has 5-6 women, the average monthly income from this activity is about 2-3 million VND/person.
  • In addition, there are women in other districts and towns such as Song Hinh, Son Hoa, Tuy An, Tay Hoa as collaborators to sell products. Apart from the local market, the product also reaches other provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa province, …

It can be seen that the development of this bio-detergent production model from organic waste not only helps reduce the amount of waste going to landfills but also brings environmentally friendly organic products to consumers and increases income for women.

Because of these benefits, the Women’s Union of Binh Ngoc Commune, Tuy Hoa City are determined to expand the scale of bio-detergent production to meet the needs of the market, contributing to further reducing waste. environment.

This is a lesson that marks the successful beginnings of the women of Binh Ngoc commune, with the support of the local government and the companionship of GreenHub, the development and replication of the “benefiting the country” model. This situation in Phu Yen province in particular, and Vietnam in general, is completely believable.
